Rover and MG Radio Removal Guides

To locate keyword2 serial number, the first step is removing keyword3 Rover radio from the vehicle. Unfortunatly this is an essential step for online decoding, as we provide the original Rover stereo code for your radio based on keyword3 serial number, unlike Rover main dealers who use the vehicles registration number. Meaning our Rover radio codes are more accurate, especially if its a second hand unit or been replaced at any stage.

  1. Simply insert the removal tools or equivalent into the two or four slots to in the corners of the Rover stereo as illustrated.
  2. Most require you to push the tools away from the radio which causes the clips to push into the radio and away from the dashboard to release
  3. The stereo should easily slide out without too much pressure.

Rover and MG Serial Number Location Guide

Once you have successfully removed your car radio, Locate the serial number by inspecting the top and right hand side of the Rover radio.

An example of serial numbers commonly found on Rover Car Radios :

  • GM0400Y1235654
  • PHAPCFFY1254556
  • RN279FY1545152
  • RG594FX1255456

Before getting a code we recommend you first ensure your radio is not blocked. Simply turn the Rover radio on, and try to enter the first digit of any code "ONLY THE FIRST DIGIT" If this is ok, immediatly turn the radio off. If you find however that you are unable to enter any digits, leave your radio powered up for 1 hour continuously to reset itself.

Whilst you have it removed also check for any labells such as Repaired... Exchange.. and check that labels such as Warranty Void if Removed are in-tact.

If your radio is blocked, or the codes you have or we supply fail to work, we also offer a Workshop Decoding service, allowing us to reset or reprogramme the majority of radios which require a code.
